Greater Shepparton City Council’s marketing team has partnered with some of the region’s biggest employers and supporters to attend the expo, which is running from Friday, July 14 to Sunday, July 16 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.
Council is working alongside GV Health, Melbourne University’s Department of Rural Health, GOTAFE and the Committee for Greater Shepparton to showcase the region and its abundance of jobs on offer.
Council partnerships and marketing co-ordinator Liz Connick said the online GROW Greater Shepparton Jobs Board would be promoted at the expo as the place to go to find jobs in the region, and encouraged businesses to post their employment opportunities there.
“When we’re at the expo, and we’re talking jobs, we’re directing inquiries to the GROW Greater Shepparton website (growgreatershepparton.com.au/) and to the jobs board,” Mrs Connick said.
“Post it on the jobs board now, we need it up there obviously before we hit Melbourne, so we’re saying if you can get it up there by the 10th of July, it’ll be approved in the back end and your job will be seen by hundreds of people.”

Hundreds of jobs for Tongala
It would seem HW Greenham & Sons subscribes to the saying, ‘Build it and they will come’.
The opening of a new abattoir at Tongala by the sixth generation family-owned beef processor is set to give Tongala a huge boost, promising 230 jobs when it reaches total capacity.
The company says the new facility will build capacity over the next few months to 700 cattle per day by Christmas and full production of 1050 cattle per day by May 2024.
One question Greenham will face is where it will find the workers to enable it to reach that full capacity.
Companies across the Goulburn Valley are finding it difficult to find workers, with many resorting to sourcing staff from overseas.
Greenham has invited skilled and unskilled workers to join its team across various roles.

Industry information session for Commonwealth Games
Representatives of regional industry and businesses interested in tendering for work on the Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games have been invited to attend an information session to learn about what is required to submit tenders.
Greater Shepparton City Council and the Industry Capability Network Victoria annual showcase will have a Games focus when it is held on Wednesday, July 26 from 4pm to 6pm at the Woolshed in Kialla.
The session will provide the latest updates on planning for goods and services procurement for the Games within the Greater Shepparton and Hume regions.
The focus of the information session is how best to connect to Commonwealth Games events and projects in the region and across the state, with advice on how to connect to and win work on projects, and insights from local businesses on how they win work on major government projects.
All small and medium sized businesses wanting to gain work for the 2026 Commonwealth Games are encouraged to attend the free information session.
