For perhaps the biggest car-related event Shepparton has seen since Prince Charles and Princess Diana drove Careful Cobbers at DECA, the 20th Falcon GT Nationals will come to town this March.

Of course, Springnats regularly draws a crowd as large, if not larger, as the former Prince and Princess’ renowned local appearance did, but it happens every year.
‘The Grinch’ currently on display at MOVE will head home soon after the Nationals in March.

The Falcon GT Nationals, which incidentally began the same year as that royal visit in 1985, takes place every two years. Rarely is it held in the Goulburn Valley.
For one day only — Saturday, March 15 — the Museum of Vehicle Evolution will transform into a GT-lover’s dream with more than 320 immaculate GT Falcons valued at around $100 million taking over the museum.
“This is your chance to witness some of the finest, rarest and never-before-seen GT Falcons all in one place,” MOVE Executive Officer Andrew Church said.
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for car enthusiasts.”
Some 320 Falcon GTs will take over the entire museum in March.

While the concours is for one day only on the Saturday, the actual event spans five days with scrutineering and pre-judging at Shepparton Showgrounds on the Thursday and Friday prior.
That will be followed by a Coffee and Cars event on Sunday morning between Maude and Edward Sts, outside The Aussie, and a cruise to Dookie. The event wil finish up with a thank-you breakfast and delegates’ meeting on Monday.
Two formal functions — a welcome event on Friday night at The Woolshed and a presentation dinner on Sunday night at Riverlinks Eastbank — have already sold out.
The best of the best GTs will be on display.

The Falcon GT Nationals event, which started in the car park of Southland Shopping Centre in Cheltenham with fewer than 80 cars, has grown to attract various GT clubs from all corners of Australia.

The most recent event, the 19th Nationals, was held at Bathurst, NSW, in 2023, where more than 400 cars converged on the racing capital from all directions.
The milestone 20th Nationals in Shepparton this March also marks 40 years since the event’s inception.
Falcon enthusiasts will be frothing over the vehicles on display.

The Falcon GT Club of Victoria says it focused on choosing a venue with a family-friendly atmosphere and state-of-the-art facilities to showcase “every Falcon GT model from the 1967 XR GT to the last Ford-produced 2014 FG GTF.”
