The foundation will provide up to $5000 (up from $2000) to selected not-for-profit organisations for projects that positively impact the people they support.
To be considered, projects must also meet an immediate or unmet need, the foundation’s funding criteria and align with focus areas of social inclusion, youth employment, ageing well, risk of or experiencing housing insecurity, safe families and economic engagement.
“We have heard that our local grassroots organisations need more funding to support their projects that will contribute to building capacity in our community as they recover from the pandemic,” foundation chief executive Cheryl Hammer said.
“We pride ourselves in our ability to adapt and respond to our community’s needs —remaining nimble allows us to be very responsive to unforeseen circumstances when they arise.”
Local projects previously awarded funding include the Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE’s Work Ready Program, the Shepparton FoodShare plan to assist those suffering food insecurity and Mooroopna Education Activity Centre Artists, helping individuals enhance their mental and physical wellbeing.
Greater Shepparton Foundation will only fund projects in which services are delivered in the greater Shepparton region and surrounds, and/or directly benefit those who live in the area.
