The walkway, which is on the Goulburn River north of Nagambie, closed Friday, April 14.
G-MW storage operations south manager Paul Beard said the reserve next to the weir would remain open during the works.
“Goulburn Weir is a critical asset for G-MW, providing water to the community of northern Victoria,” Mr Beard said.
“We regularly undertake pro-active maintenance works on our storages to help ensure their long-term integrity.
“Goulburn Weir Recreation Reserve will remain open for the public, as will the toilet block at the reserve.”
The closure of the walkway will mean that to access the playground people will need to park at the Goulburn Weir Rd carpark, rather than parking on Goulburn Weir-Murchison Rd and crossing the weir that way.
Signs will be posted on each end of the weir to notify of the closure.
“We appreciate people’s patience and adherence to G-MW’s advice during the works,” Mr Beard said.
G-MW has also started works on the Cattanach Canal next to Goulburn Weir-Murchison Rd.
The works involve replacing the regulator radial gate and are expected to be finished by the end of June this year.
Single-lane closures will occasionally be required at the bridge to perform the works.
