It was the perfect way for the combine to begin its season, with a sublime performance in the field and at the crease from Dylan Cuttriss.
The Rochester gun helped guide his side to 161 from 43.5 overs after struggling at 5-49.
Cuttriss came in at number seven and worked his way to 61 to steady Rochester's innings.
He then came on with the new ball and was tidy enough to record 0-13 off four overs.
But his teammate Sean Williams (3-23) and Angus Martin (3-25) were the pick of the bowlers as the away team dislodged Echuca for 118 from 38.2 overs.
The home side only had four players reach double figures, with 31 extras assisting Echuca in the run chase.
Elsewhere, Moama was too strong across the board in its win against Tongala, with a superb bowling effort leading it to victory.
Moama's Billy Gallagher (2-9) and Jack Russell (2-16) were pivotal in restricting the Blues to 7-126 from their 45 overs.
Tongala's Darin Ohlsen was the highest run-scorer with 29 off 46 deliveries and his 58-run opening partnership with Jayden Tucker was a positive for the home side.
In the chase, Jordan McGregor posted a patient half-century as the away side recorded a five-wicket victory.
McGregor (52 off 100 deliveries) and Russell (27 off 57) were the main scorers in posting the 5-129 total.
Meanwhile, Kyabram Fire Brigade blasted a stunning 4-248 batting first against Echuca South, before going on to record a 68-run victory.
Anthony DePasquale missed out on a century after reaching 79 and was impressive at the top of the order for Kyabram, while Jake Gascoyne (61) was a superb contributor.
Echuca South battled hard in its chase, with Josh Novoselek (51) starring as his side finished on 7-180.
Lastly, Cooma clinched a dominant seven-wicket victory against Bamawm-Lockington United off the back of a strong opening partnership.
Steve Barrett (64) and Aaron Hayes (36) combined for 77 runs and were important in guiding their side to victory with two overs to spare.
