Thousands of students have been welcomed to GOTAFE’s campuses across the Goulburn-Ovens region at Orientation Week this week.
At the GOTAFE Fryers St Campus, eager learners were invited to attend the first day on Tuesday, February 11.
Orientation Week will run until February 14.
Executive director of student experience Laura Baker arranged for O-Week to help ease students back into campus life, foster connections with peers and teachers, and ensure they were fully aware of the support services available in the region.

“We are really passionate about creating that welcoming and inclusive environment,” Ms Baker said.
“You can go to TAFE and get the support that you need.“
GOTAFE’s Orientation Week continues to grow annually, as all types of services and community spaces become more easier to access.
Live music, barbecues and interactive activities are on offer, as well as a number of information stalls for students.
Booths include GV Pride, headspace, support and wellbeing services such as the Koorie Unit and Learning Support, Service Australia, The GV Public Health Unit and more.
And for those studying online that can’t make it in person, online inductions alongside various online resources have been set in place.
“And that’s a really important opportunity ... for us to be able to give students the right information at the right time,” Ms Baker said.
“So making sure that we’ve got accessible content online has been something we’ve done pretty quickly to adapt to that.”
Victorian Skills Authority data indicates that health and trade industries will experience high demand over the coming years across the Goulburn and Ovens regions.
In response, GOTAFE offers over 160 courses over campuses across the region, with the highest numbers of students in the trades and healthcare spaces.
GOTAFE plays a vital role in bridging the skills gap in high-demand industries, providing education that prepares students for employment.
