The Benalla Travel Fashions on the Field drew a crowd as proceedings got under way at 2pm at the Benalla Racing Club.
The competition was fierce, with no lack of entrants in each category.
Up first was the best-dressed tot category for entrants aged five and under.
Max Jacka wowed the judges with his outfit to take out the top prize.
Max loves to dress up and said that his sunglasses were his favourite part of the outfit.
The Benalla Gold Cup attracts people from across the region, and the best-dressed male category highlights this.

Taking out the top prize was William Bonnici from the Wodonga Racing Club.
Mr Bonnici attended the cup day to see how the 2023 Victorian Club of the Year puts on a show.
“It’s great to see Benalla put a great day on, and it’s always been a great day,” Mr Bonnici said.
“The weather gods have been fantastic.

“I bought it (the suit) locally in Wodonga. It’s fantastic to come out and get the opportunity to (show off the fashions).
“The ladies look fantastic, but it’s always great to see the guys get out there too and having a great time.”
With a $1000 Benalla Travel voucher in hand, Mr Bonnici did not have a plan for how to use it but knew that he definitely would.

In the best-dressed female category, a local was taking the top prize.
Ally Ellis, who teaches at St Joseph’s Primary School, won the competition for the second year in a row.
Ms. Ellis stood out in a Gorman floral suit with a self-styled hat and shoes.
“It’s always a privilege because there are so many beautiful outfits out there,”
“I love coming to the races and seeing what everyone has put together because fashion is very much my thing.
“I’m not sure yet (how I’ll use the Benalla Travel voucher). We went to Queensland last year, and I took my family.
“Everything is so expensive these days, so it just took the pressure off and meant we could go further and have a bigger holiday.”
