Pilots of all licence categories are invited to participate in a pilot safety seminar in Shepparton this week.
The seminar provided by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority aims to enhance pilots’ decision-making skills, which are crucial for preventing accidents and keeping flying safe for everyone.
Every year, CASA’s aviation safety advisors host free seminars across the country to help pilots refresh their skills and knowledge, and improve their safety.
The seminar in Shepparton will focus on fuel exhaustion and starvation, decision-making and general competency rules.
Aviation safety adviser Craig Peterson said the seminar catered to both novice and experienced pilots.
“Our seminar feedback shows pilots get more out of a session when there is a range of experience in the room and lots of discussion because it is our shared knowledge that creates a safer environment for everyone,” Mr Peterson said.
“We also use case studies during the seminars to show how things can go wrong and to prepare pilots for mitigating those risks.
“These seminars are a great chance for pilots to talk about safety issues in your local area with safety advisers and other local pilots to address them.”
Pilots are also invited to discuss local safety issues and ask their fellow pilots questions about rules and regulations.
