The accountants and solicitors usually enjoy a relatively relaxed schedule between April and June, but COVID-19 meant that wasn’t possible.
The extra paperwork and rules created by COVID-19 support packages has meant full steam ahead for the accounting side of the business.
But despite the hectic schedule, accountant Fiona Paine said the Osborne and Osborne team was ready to help its clients navigate this tax season.
“We’re ready to go and have recently hired a new staff member to ensure we have the resources to cope with the demand,” she said.
“Tax time can be confusing to navigate in a regular year, let alone in the ever-changing world of today. But we have the skills and experience to deal with all your COVID and non-COVID tax issues.
“We encourage our clients to be as prepared as possible for tax time but that can be difficult when the rules continue to change. We can help you understand your obligations and make sure you’re doing what’s right for you and your business.”
Ms Paine said with more and more people turning to online bookkeeping and accounting, her face-to-face interaction with clients had dropped.
“The days of printing pages and pages of documents and getting people to come in and sign them are all but gone,” she said.
“Most of our clients receive their paperwork through our secure online portal. We’re able to do most of our work via email and the occasional phone call. Email is the most effective way for clients to send their information to us.
“We use a cloud-based accounting program called Xero for the majority of our business clients. This gives us instant access to their data, enabling us to assist them if they have problems and obtain data quickly and easily.
“We still have a few clients who like to come in, but most people are enjoying doing it from home.
“We’re really thankful for our clients being patient and understanding, especially in the early days of the pandemic when we were getting our heads around the new rules.”
