Next Friday, Renato’s will again be supporting GV Health by donating daffodils to the hospital's Cancer Council Daffodil Day fundraiser.
More than 400 bunches of daffodils will be on sale at the hospital on Friday, August 23 to help raise vital funds for cancer research.
Renato’s Florist owner Sam Renato doesn’t like to make a fuss over his generous community work but said he began donating flowers because he wanted to give back to the community.
“I am so proud of Shepparton and GV Health's great work,” Mr Renato said.
“Daffodils are such a bright and happy flower; it’s the first flower that comes up in late winter and it gives new hope and new life.
“It makes people happy and makes people smile."
The annual campaign has become an iconic fundraiser in Australia, with thousands of people donating money or volunteering their time to raise money for the Cancer Council.
GV Health foundation director Carmel Johnson is encouraging the community to get behind the Daffodil Day fundraiser or to host their own event.
“It's become part of our annual calendar of events that we look forward to,” she said.
“The fact that Sam is willing to donate daffodils every year is a testament to the respect and generosity he has to GV Health and the Cancer Council for their ongoing research.
“We would encourage the community to get behind the sale of daffodils."
The Cancer Council is encouraging schools, businesses and workplaces to take part in the fundraiser.
People can donate directly to the Cancer Council or can have some fun hosting their own fundraiser, such as a bake sale or by wearing yellow.
The money raised will go directly towards saving the lives of the 145,000 Australians who are diagnosed with cancer every year.
Daffodils will be available for purchase on Friday, August 23 at GV Health reception or at Renato's Florist on Wyndham St.
