Make room Shepparton, there’s a new dessert place in town.
Last week, Augustus Gelatery officially opened its doors in Shepparton’s Maude St Mall, drawing in crowds eager to try various gelato flavours.

To celebrate the opening, staff gave away 300 free t-shirts to customers.

Regional manager Taylah Calleri said the response they had from the community throughout the day was phenomenal.
“We had families, local businesses and everyone came down to support us which is awesome,’’ she said.
"They were waiting for us at the door before we even opened.
“We have a few flavours to pick from, so the 36 flavours definitely separates us from the others but we don’t compromise on quality either. It’s amazing.”

Customers have a large range of flavours to choose — from with classics like chocolate and cookies and cream, to creative flavours such as carrot cake frosting and butterscoff.
Augustus also has gelato cakes, freshly made and ready to go, in a range of flavours.

Shepparton store owner Kevin Cortesao, who also owns a couple of Augustus gelateries in Melbourne, was keen to expand and open in regional Victoria.
“I’ve always wanted to come to Shepparton. It’s fantastic here and it’s been such a great response so far,“ Mr Cortesao said.
“The amount of people that are coming through is absolutely amazing and a lot of families as well ... Fingers crossed but we’re doing really well so far.”
Customer Stephanie Ciou was keen to come back and try more flavours.
“I love it I want to try all the flavours,’’ she said.
“They have many different flavours and there’s the gelato cakes as well which I want to try with my friend next time.”

As a gelato and ice-cream enthusiast, Sandra Kington was in her element at Augustus.
“I love my ice-cream. I thought it was too early to come in here but when I came I was queued up,” Mrs Kington said.
“There were a lot of people here ... it’s really good, so nice. I like this creamy sort of homemade taste.”

It’s also the perfect place for a late night desert, with the gelatery open until 10pm on week nights and 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
