With entries open for the 2024 Furphy Literary Awards, now is the perfect time for young people in the Goulburn Valley to unleash their creativity and submit their stories.
Greater Shepparton City Council, in partnership with the Furphy Foundation, La Trobe University and the GV Library Group, invites aspiring young writers to write their way to success these school holidays.
Entries are open for the four youth categories, which include the junior short story and junior poetry categories for writers 12 and under and the youth short story and youth poetry categories for writers aged 13 to 17 years.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali encouraged writers to get inspired.
“Don’t miss out on the opportunity to showcase your writing talent in the Furphy Literary Awards these school holidays,” he said.
“As the saying goes, everyone can write at least one good story. These awards provide a fantastic platform for our local young people to express their creativity, individuality and voices.”
The Furphy Literary Awards offer exciting prizes in each category, with a first-place prize of $300, followed by $100 for second place and $50 for third.
Entries close on Wednesday, May 31 at 11.59pm.
