State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced the Seymour RSL sub branch and the Kilmore Soldiers Memorial Hall as the successful recipients on April 10.
Seymour RSL has been granted $5000 for a new, fully compliant kitchen installation, while Kilmore Soldiers Memorial Hall will receive around $2900 to replace four outdated gas heaters with two split systems.
Ms Symes also confirmed that the Tooborac Cenotaph and War Memorial would receive $3000 from the Restoring Community War Memorials and Avenues of Honour 2024-25 grants program to continue renovations to expand the memorial precinct and remove the hedge wall.
“By preserving and upgrading veterans’ facilities, we’re helping future generations understand the legacy of service,” Ms Symes said.
“These projects make sure the stories of our veterans live on, not just in memory, but in every community they helped shape.”
Twenty-six recipients across the state were awarded funding from the Veterans Capital Works grant program, while 16 received a grant from the Restoring Community War Memorials and Avenues of Honour program.
Veterans Minister Natalie Suleyman said these grants aimed to honour the legacy of veterans.
“These projects are a powerful way we’re preserving the unforgettable legacy of our veterans by improving the places where their stories are honoured and remembered,” Ms Suleyman said.
