The Victorian Government is investing almost $500,000 in libraries across the Seymour region.
Mitchell Shire’s public libraries will receive $342,825, while $141,985 is being invested into Strathbogie Shire’s public libraries.
The money will be used to expand library collections, boost online services and provide library and outreach programs.
The funding is part of the Public Libraries Funding Program which provides money across Victoria for library services to run.
Local libraries are much-loved community facilities in Victoria. Across the state, more than two million library members borrow more than 31 million items from libraries every year.
A further $895,330 is being invested into the Goulburn Valley Regional Library Corporation, which includes libraries in Euroa, Nagambie, Numurkah and Violet Town.
State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said the government was proud to support councils and regional libraries which provided quality resources for the community.
“As our community grows, so do their needs. This funding will provide northern Victorians to have improved access to digital technology and resources, literacy support services, traditional collections, event spaces and workstations,” she said.
