Administrator Peter Stephenson said it was fantastic for council to be able to support these local community groups.
“These grants provide funds for important community led projects that complement the community vision and strategic focus areas of our Council Plan 2021-25,” he said.
Council awarded grants to 19 community organisations and groups for a total of $163,000, excluding GST.
Community Strengthening Grants recipients:
- Avenel Active $8665 – multiple projects
- Tablelands Community Centre $10,000 – Indigenous artist workshops
- Euroa Agricultural Society $10,000 – AV equipment
- Go Nagambie $6970 – lighting Kirwans Bridge
- Avenel Bowling Club $7691 – aluminium seating
- Nagambie Soccer Club $10,000 – soccer goals and storage container
- Strathbogie Sporting and Recreation Club $5712 – multiple projects
- Strathbogie Tablelands History Group $3500 – glass display cabinet
- Strathbogie Tablelands Action Group $1329 – multiple projects
- Avenel Golf Club $3894 – replace gas ovens with electric ovens
- Strathbogie Golf Club $10,000 - diesel motor and pump
- Longwood Action Group $10,000 – historical signage
- Strathbogie Recreation Reserve Committee of Management $5460 – multiple projects
Reducing Emissions Grants recipients:
- Violet Town Action Group $20,000 – new energy efficient floodlights
- Nagambie Senior Citizens $9080 – new energy efficient dishwasher
- Strathbogie Memorial Hall $20,000 – solar and battery power system
- Violet Town Football Netball Club $8659 – new higher energy rated dishwashers
- Strathbogie Recreation Reserve Committee of Management $3500 – install energy efficient split system
- Nagambie Lakes Men’s Shed $8540 – installation of solar panels
The grant funding was awarded through two streams, including Community Strengthening Grants of up to $10,000 and Reducing Emissions Grant of up to $20,000.
Thirteen groups were awarded the grants under the Community Strengthening Grants and a further six groups were awarded the Reducing Emissions Grant, a new stream that was introduced to support council’s Climate Change Action Plan.
“The 13 Community Strengthening Grants provide our communities with funding for projects they have identified to enhance their community,” Mr Stephenson said.
“Best of all, these are community-led projects that the council can support with grants.”
