Full house at ‘Home Energy Efficiency Talk’

The event was fully booked, with 51 attendees listening to the one-hour presentation before a 30-minute Q&A session and light refreshments, which gave attendees the opportunity to engage with the guest speakers.

Council team leader for sustainability and environment Paul Dainton said he was pleased with the community’s response to the event.

“We were very happy to see so many community members attend the event and engage with the speakers, taking advantage of these experts’ knowledge,” he said.

“We received great feedback from those who attended, and many inquired about future events similar to this one.

“We know the community want to reduce their household energy costs, so it is encouraging to know Greater Shepparton’s residents are keen to learn more about home energy efficiency.”

Attendees learnt about energy-efficient upgrades, including solar panels, induction cook tops and heat pump hot water systems.

The importance of proper roof insulation and covering ducts and vents when not in use was also highlighted, as well as installing double-glazed windows to keep the heat out in summer.
