Don your best dress and enjoy a concert recital by the Benalla Classical Guitar Ensemble.
This will be followed by a talk from artist Hannah Gartside.
She currently features in the gallery’s latest exhibition, New Exuberance: Contemporary Australian textile design.
Ms Gartside is a visual artist specialising in sculpture, installation and video.
She has also worked as a costume-maker, mainly on productions for Queensland Ballet.
Benalla Art Gallery director Eric Nash describes her work as characteristically sensual and poetic.
“Hannah’s works transform found fabrics and clothing into articulate experiences and sensations of longing, tenderness, care and desire,” Mr Nash said.
“Her pieces explore this practice with a focus on the use of worn textiles and craft processes.”
Frock up Friday will be held at the gallery on Friday, November 10, from 6pm to 8pm.
It is a free community event, and drinks, cocktails and cheese boards will be available from the gallery cafe, Munro and Sargeant, at bar prices.
Numbers are limited, and bookings are essential.
