A solar panel was recently installed at the Benalla Splash Park, offering free mobile charging facilities and an off-grid LED solar system.
A Benalla Rural City Council spokesperson said the solar lighting helped to improve safety and natural surveillance within the Splash Park grounds, with LEDs turning on automatically at dusk, staying on all night and turning off at dawn.
“The solar panel installed within the park also runs three charging stations, which are all free and fully accessible to the public, with the capacity to charge various smartphones including iOS and Android devices,” the spokesperson said.
This project was made possible with $150,000 received from the Victorian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Fund.
