Firefighters are battling a grass fire at Numurkah.

Fourteen CFA units were called to the fire on the Goulburn Valley Hwy about 3.10pm on Thursday, December 21.
Crews worked to protect two structures under threat by the fire, located between Orchard St and Katamatite-Nathalia Rd.
Firefighters from Katunga, Strathmerton, Tallygaroopna, Wunghnu, Waaia, Drumanure, Yarroweyah, Cobram, Kaarimba and Numurkah CFA brigades are fighting the fire, with a firebombing helicopter also called.
A CFA spokesperson said the fire was deemed under control at 3.50pm.
Police are still on the scene directing traffic, and motorists are encouraged to avoid the area.
VicEmergency has issued a ‘stay informed’ alert at 3.34pm to those in the area of the Goulburn Valley Hwy between Orchard St and Katamatite-Nathalia Rd.
The fire is currently travelling north towards Orchard St.
There is currently no threat to other property, but people are being warned to stay alert and monitor conditions.
