The four drivers were picked up as part of a proactive police operation by Shepparton police’s criminal investigation unit and divisional tasking unit, with help from Victoria Police Airwing.
The operation was held on Friday and Saturday night, and Shepparton CIU Detective Acting Sergeant Lance Wiltshire said it had resulted in a “significant reduction of crime”.
Four people were arrested in relation to alleged pursuits or evading police.
“With support of the Airwing we were able to intercept them,” Det Act Sgt Wiltshire said.
The pursuits ranged from quite short to several kilometres, with some starting from vehicles spotted driving dangerously and others from drivers who attempted to drive off on random police intercepts, Det Acting Sgt Wiltshire said.
The operation caught two drivers allegedly drug driving and other three were allegedly caught drink driving.
Ten people were also arrested on outstanding warrants and drug possession charges, with one of them arrested for allegedly trafficking drugs.
Det Act Sgt Wiltshire said the operation had particularly targeted people who were trying to evade police.
“We’re quite pleased with the results,” he said.
