Berrigan Shire Council has also issued a reminder to not drive or walk through flood water and call NSW SES on 132 500 if you need assistance.
Flood warnings are still current around both the Murray and Murrumbidgee rivers following further heavy falls in the past week.
Spills from the Hume Dam combined with flood waters from the Kiewa River have caused minor flooding along the Murray River at Corowa where river levels are expected to remain steady above the minor flood level (4.60 metres) for the next few days.
The Murray River at Albury is expected to remain just below
the minor flood level (4.30 metres) for the next few days. River levels downstream of Corowa are expected to remain below minor flood levels.
Moderate flooding is possible in the Murrumbidgee River at Hay from this weekend.
Minor flooding is currently occurring at Darlington Point and likely at Carrathool next week, with possible minor flooding at Balranald mid-September.
Rainfall since early Tuesday morning has caused river level rises across the Upper Murrumbidgee catchment.
But the flood peak has now passed Darlington Point, where river levels peaked at 6.51m about 2pm on Monday.
At the time of going to print yesterday, almost 24 hours later, the river had dropped back to 6.49 metres and was listed as “steady”.
It is likely to remain above the minor flood level (5.5m) through the weekend.
Water authorities have warned however that with further rainfall expected, there may be further river level rises in the upper parts of the Murrumbidgee catchment.
