And the team at the Shepparton dealership do everything in their power to embody BMW’s reputation.
“It comes down to everyone being on the same page and recognising that if we all do our best in all our own areas, we’ll come out on top,” dealer principal and director Aaron Brain said.
“And that’s what we’ve done.”
They’ve done it five years in a row, winning the BMW Group’s Rural Dealer of the Year award five years running — and even taking home National Dealer of the Year in 2018.
General sales manager Glen Goodall has also been named the Rural Salesman of the Year for the past eight years.
“Even before I took over, the previous owner, Jeff Tracy, was one of the most highly awarded dealers in Australia,” Mr Brain said.
On top of that, Shepparton BMW’s lead service technician Tim Smith is about to graduate as a master technician, the highest level of qualification available within BMW’s service sector.
Mr Brain said improving the workshop was one of the priorities when they moved.
“We wanted to make sure we were capable for the next 20 years,” he said.
The 22-person strong team at BMW has a “customer first” mentality.
The team’s experience and dedication is tied together with the ribbon that is their new state-of-the-art facility.
“The idea of what we’ve just built here is that when you walk in, it should be like a five-star hotel,” Mr Brain said.
“You’ll come in and be greeted in the way you should expect.”
Employees are supported by on and off-site training to help staff deliver a premium experience.
In the service side of the business, the dealership currently employs three technician apprentices, who after four years will have achieved not only a mechanic apprenticeship but also qualifications in electrification.
“From a workshop perspective, we have a tutoring and mentoring program that we run through BMW,” Mr Brain said.
“Everyone does a minimum of five days training out of house and then they do nearly 15 days a month of online training as well.”
For the sales team, the training is focused on learning the product.
“There’s so many different variants in the brand,” Mr Brain said.
“The team test-drive the cars and learn all the differences, so when they talk with customers, they know what they feel like.”
