The expected annual electrical output from the 57.6 MW wind farm will power 37 000 average Victorian households and avoid the emission of 200 000 tonnes of CO2e annually.
Renewable energy developer Infigen is managing the project’s construction for John Laing.
Once the wind farm is complete, Infigen will purchase the electricity generated from the site located approximately 15 km south-east of Seymour.
Project manager Inès Béchameil was pleased to make the generation announcement.
“This marks a significant milestone for the project and the project team,” she said.
“We look forward during the next few weeks to progressing with the final commissioning and testing of the wind turbines and move into full production.
“Reaching this key milestone during such a challenging time has been due in no small part to the major efforts of our delivery partners Vestas and AusNet Services.”
The next and final phase of work will see all the wind turbines put into operation to allow the final testing of turbines and control systems before the wind farm is brought into full operation.
“We are very pleased to see the farm begin producing clean energy for Victoria, as well as creating regional job opportunities,” John Laing asset director George Karalis said.
“John Laing is proud to be involved in delivering essential electrical infrastructure projects that support economic growth and the Victorian government’s objectives.”
