Firefighters were called to the Emily St blaze about 3.43pm.
The Tocumwal Fire + Rescue brigade sprung into action, and called Finley Fire + Rescue and Tocuwaml Rural Fire Service to provide further firefighting power.
The fire itself was quelled within half an hour, but smoke continued to pose a threat to the area.
With concerns of missing pets, one firefighter donned breathing apparatus to enter and search the home.
The missing dogs were found inside, unharmed.
Tocumwal Fire + Rescue Captain Ian Desailly said while the home could not be saved, he said firefighters worked well together to prevent further impacts.
“Finley Fire + Rescue and Tocumwal Rural Fire Service were just so good,” he said.
“They were very professional and such a great help.”
The cause of the Toc blaze has not been revealed.
But Capt Desailly said as the cooler months approach, fire safety will be key to prevent further losses.
He said the increased use of fireplaces and wood heaters can increase the chance of structure fires.
Capt Desailly said it is important for all buildings to be fitted with working smoke alarms.
