The Fire Danger Period will finish at 1am on Monday, April 14 in Moira Shire, Strathbogie Shire and City of Greater Shepparton.
CFA District 22 assistant chief fire officer Tony Owen said while the Fire Danger Period was coming to an end in some areas, it was still important to remain vigilant.
It is still important that residents check the local conditions are safe for any burn-off they are considering.
“You must register your burn-offs, check weather conditions and follow local council laws and regulations,” Mr Owen said.
“You are legally responsible for safe burning all year round — failure to monitor and prevent escapes may result in legal action.
“Registering your burn-off ensures that if somebody reports smoke, the incident will be crosschecked with the burn-off register, which will then prevent volunteer firefighters being taken away from workplaces, families and potentially genuine emergencies.
“When conducting burn-offs, remain alert and always have resources on hand to extinguish the fire.”
Landowners can register their burn-off online at: https://firepermits.vic.gov.au
