The Geelong star forward missed out on adding to his 2012 medal when he finished runner-up in the club's best-and-fairest to midfielder Cam Guthrie.
Hawkins, who claimed his maiden Coleman Medal this year with 42 goals, finished the count on 224 votes — four behind the winner.
The result came a week after Geelong suffered a 31-point loss to Richmond in the AFL grand final.
The three-time All-Australian spoke during the Cats’ presentation night and thanked everyone from the staff to the coaches for their input in 2020.
“It's been well documented how unique the season has been, but to everyone who I shared the experience with in the hub this year . . . it was a tough situation at times, but we certainly had a lot of fun along the way,” Hawkins said.
“I'd like to thank everyone that was involved. The staff members that couldn't come along that worked tirelessly behind the scenes, thank you for all your hard work.
“I want to thank all the coaches that have made my job really easy each week.
“It's been a great year, there's so many people to thank, I'm sure I've missed some along the way.
“It's been wonderful, we didn't quite get there, but we'll have a go next year.”
● Meanwhile, Echuca's Ollie Wines and Benalla's Tom Rockliff enjoyed a great night at Port Adelaide's presentation ceremony.
The pair finished inside the top-10 in the John Cahill Medal count, with Wines (fifth) polling 116 votes and Rockliff (eighth) 113.
Wines capped the evening by winning the best finals player award.
● In other AFL news, Leitchville product Marty Hore has signed an extension at Melbourne and will remain at the club until the end of next year.
Hore was unable to continue his sublime debut 2019 season, as the defender missed 2020 due to injuries.
Melbourne general manager of football Josh Mahoney said he was happy to see Hore return to the club.
“It’s really exciting to be able to keep Marty on our list,” Mahoney said.
“He’s a developing player who has shown a lot of positive signs in the early stages of his career.
“Marty had a difficult year with some unique injuries — he worked incredibly hard to get back and play the final two scratch matches of the year and performed very strongly.
“Marty arrived as a mature recruit, but is still just two seasons into his career, so we see a bright future for him across half-back.”
