The first session will be a Women Candidate Information Session, which will be held on Thursday, July 25 at 12.30pm at the Shepparton Art Museum.
This session aims to encourage women to consider standing for council by providing an overview of a councillor’s role, addressing perceived barriers and discussing the flexibility available to support all councillors.
Attendees will also hear from guest speaker state Member for Shepparton Kim O'Keeffe, who is a former councillor and mayor.
While women are encouraged to attend, everyone is welcome. A light lunch will be provided.
The second session will be a general Candidate and Voter Information Session, and will be held on Monday, August 26 at 5.30pm in the council boardroom.
This session will cover the responsibilities, time commitments and requirements of being a councillor under the Local Government Act 2020.
It will also provide voters with information on the new ward structure for Greater Shepparton.
Registrations for both sessions are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.
Additionally, the Victorian Electoral Commission will be hosting a Candidate Information Session on Thursday, September 5 at 6.30pm at the VEC Election Office in the Shepparton Senior Citizens Centre.
Candidates are encouraged to attend to receive important election information.
