It began as a Band Festival to celebrate Australia Day. Since the abolition of the long weekend around Australia Day it has become a time to celebrate Corowa’s involvement in the Federation Movement.
Local businesses, organisations and schools take part in the annual parade drawing hundreds of people to Sanger Street, Corowa.
Visit the Art Space at the Corowa Civic Centre to see a collection of photographs representing a sample of the entrants in Federation Festival Parades through the years. You may also remember “Jimmy’s little red car” or the red-checked dresses worn by the ladies who collected donations to help cover the costs in maintaining this annual festival.
What else will be there? Call into the Art Space some time between January 16 and February 2, Wednesday to Friday 10am-4pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am – 2pm. It’s free admission.
