Goulburn Murray Community Leadership executive officer Nathan Bibby said he was excited to have delved into the topic and for the opportunity to learn from industry leaders.
“Clearly our health systems have been, and still are, under enormous pressure since the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
“It’s more important than ever for our future leaders to better understand our health systems and the challenges they face.
“We’re incredibly grateful to all of the leaders that shared wisdom with this year’s Fairley cohort, with a special thanks to the University of Melbourne for hosting us and Primary Care Connect for sponsoring the day.”
The health and wellbeing program day centred around exploring four key themes: social health issues; how the pandemic has impacted the system; what role community leaders play in support health systems; and personal strategies for mental health and wellbeing care.
Throughout the day, the Fairley Leadership cohort networked with and heard from Minds on Purpose co-founder Nathan Carkeek, Primary Care Connect chief executive Rebecca Lorains, Shepparton Medical Centre operations manager Joanne Kinder and more.
The Fairley Leadership Program is Goulburn Murray Community Leadership’s flagship program, which takes its cohort of future leaders on an immersive learning experience.
The program educates emerging leaders about the challenges and opportunities impacting on the Goulburn Murray region, equipping them with the leadership skills to make an impact.
Applications for the 2023 program are opening soon. For more information on the program, visit the Goulburn Murray Community Leadership website: www.gmcl.org.au
