GV Extreme Sport is a collective of local skate park users with plans to run three weekend competitions in the summer of 2022 for skateboarding, scooter riding, BMX riding and rollerblading/skating.
Competitions will be for young people aged 12 and over, with heats and then a final involving the top eight from each age group and division.
The event has received a grant of $5000.
Another grant will help create a feature garden seat with a nod to the history of the pony paddock next to Congupna Primary School.
The paddock is regularly used by the school for outdoor education and students have contributed to the planting and landscaping.
A $720 grant will help local craftsman Tony Farrell to make a feature garden seat out of horseshoes. Historically, the pony paddock was used by the school children who rode their ponies to school; they would leave them in the paddock until the end of the day when they would collect their ponies and ride home again.
The Central Park Reserve Community Asset Committee will use a $4050 grant to appoint a building designer to complete a schematic plan for a new building.
The plans will be incorporated in an updated master plan to lobby for funding.
The reserve lacks female change rooms, and the existing facilities are in a state of disrepair.
The concept plan will also include a solution to the current issues around space for the Shepparton East Men’s Shed, allowing the team to further grow membership numbers and develop new ways to engage with existing members.
The Karramomus Hall and Recreation Reserve Committee will receive $3000 to replace blinds and curtains and replace flooring in the cloak room.
Tallygaroopna Men’s Shed will use a $760 grant to purchase an eight-camera security system and additional security fencing.
A new kitchen is the reason for a $5000 grant to the Goulburn Valley Aero Club, based at Shepparton Aerodrome.
The kitchen will be used for club events but also by the regular users including the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, CFA, Helitak fire bombing pilots and ground support crews, other visiting pilots, air ambulance and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Mooroopna Croquet Club members will be able to remain in pennant competition with a grant of $1750 to update to the latest stainless hoops that are used by most clubs across Australia.
New Quadway hoops will replace the old cast iron hoops, which regularly require maintenance and powder coating.
Tatura and District Historical Society will fit a new electric sliding door to improve wheelchair access. The grant for the project is $5000.
Each of the grant recipients also contributes cash or in-kind support to the total project cost.
