Due to the forecast high temperatures across Victoria on Wednesday, extreme heat timetables will be in place for services on the Seymour and Shepparton lines.
Speed restrictions may also be implemented on other lines if temperatures exceed 36°C, which may result in delays or service changes.
Passengers are encouraged to check the V/Line website before travelling to see if their services are affected, and to allow extra time when travelling.
A copy of the extreme heat timetable can be downloaded from the V/Line website or passengers can ask for a copy from their nearest staffed station.
Extreme heat speed restrictions are implemented to reduce the likelihood of train and track faults, while also keeping passengers safe.
When an extreme heat timetable is in place, journey times will be extended as V/Line reduces the speed of its trains.
There will be drinking water on board trains and passengers are also encouraged to travel with bottled water and wear cool clothing.
