Bike mechanic John Beer (JB) has had an abundance of experience working with bikes as he has been a bike mechanic, working with various cycling teams around the world for many years.
JB’s passion for bikes started when he was 14 and has not wavered from the two wheels since.
Over the years, JB has worked at two Paralympics Games where he was the head mechanic, the first in Sydney 2000 and also in Athens 2004 keeping bikes in order for competitors and was also the head mechanic at the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
In 1999 JB was a staff member of the Southern Cross Multi Disability Championships, keeping teams’ cycles in top condition for events.
JB has also lived and worked in five different European and Asian countries working with the national cycling teams as well as spending 12 months in USA.
Although travelling all over the world working with Australian cycling teams, JB has primarily worked with Australian teams and still does bike tours with Alltrails as well as having had a large involvement in the Great Victorian Bike Ride over the past 30 years as the bike mechanic, which made its way through Yarrawonga
