While there appears to be considerable competition for the electorates of Bendigo and Indi, the Nicholls electorate — based around Shepparton and Echuca — could muster only seven candidates.
The Family First party and One Nation are targeting many of the conservative-held electorates.
The NSW division of Riverina (based around Wagga) will have one of the biggest ballot papers around Australia, with 13 candidates.
