Mayor Daniel Mackrell said encouraging people to spend time in the Port Precinct was a priority for the council.
“The markets add to the vibrancy of the precinct and help to further enhance the tourism experience for visitors and locals alike,” Cr Mackrell said.
The council defines the Port Precinct as running from the roundabout at Heygarth and High Sts, along to the old Pump House, through to the roundabout at Warren St, and all the way to the area between the Murray and Campaspe Rivers.
The expressions of interest process invites submissions from co-operative and incorporated associations established within the shire.
“I encourage community organisations to submit their applications to hold markets during the 2025-26 financial year and help drive the already strong Port of Echuca visitation rates,” Cr Mackrell said.
Applications from outside the municipality may also be considered at the council’s discretion.
All markets must support locally made or grown products, second-hand goods, crafts, and homemade goods.
Applications from commercial market holders will not be considered, and resellers are not permitted at the markets.
For more information or to submit an application, visit www.campaspe.vic.gov.au/marketsEOI before applications close on Sunday, March 2.
