After a successful run in Echuca, the couple expanded the opportunity to Rochy, this time picking two streets for residents to receive gift cards to their nursery.
The act of kindness started when they decided to give back to the community amid the cost-of-living crisis.
The Turners called on their more than 20,000 social media followers to pick a street that could use some gardening TLC, originally in Echuca.
“It’s very important to us to support the community,” Mr Turner said.
“We thought it would be a nice way of spreading some love if we got people to choose some streets that could do with a little bit of greening.”
They felt that Rochy could use some extra support too as the town continues to recover.
The pair chose two streets on the west side of town for the residents to receive a gift card.
“We know that Rochy did it tough,” Mr Turner said.
“We flooded too, we lost half a million dollars worth of trees on our tree farm.
“So we understand, although we didn’t lose a home, we still understand the pain of a flood.”
The vouchers have no expiry date, and can be used on any product at Echuca Moama Plant Farm.
Mr Turner hopes that the gift cards will brighten up the recipients’ days when they open their mailbox to the surprise.
“People aren’t rushed if they’re not ready to do gardening yet,” Mr Turner said.
“It’s a nice way of making a person’s day.”
He also emphasised the mental benefits of horticulture, and the environment that gardens can provide.
“Within horticulture, there is a mental space,” he said.
“A lot of people like to work in horticulture or be in gardens because it’s a safe space.”
