About 30-40 pilots from across the region attended the informative, two-hour event on Thursday, May 26.
Pilot and committee member for Echuca Aerodrome Adrian Van der Sluys said CASA was like the VicRoads of the piloting industry.
“They promote safety and ensure that we have a good understanding of how to be safe in the sky,” he said.
Mr Van der Sluys said the seminar was always a good way for pilots within the region to get a refresher.
“Safety seminars like this urge pilots to think a little bit more about their processes, which could in turn potentially prevent them from having a crash,” he said.
“During the seminar, CASA focused on decision-making and planning before getting into the air, that means considering internal factors such as how many people you have in the plane and whether you’ve checked your own safety requirements as well as external factors such as the weather and what’s going on in your personal life that could potentially distract you from safe piloting.”
Mr Van der Sluys said CASA generally held a safety seminar in the region at least twice a year.
“It’s not compulsory to go but it is recommended that you do as you always get something out of it,” he said.
The next CASA safety seminar will be held later in the year.
