SPC Ardmona KidsTown’s three-day Easter Adventure, which wraps up on Monday, April 18, gave families the chance to enjoy miniature train rides, an adventure scavenger hunt and daily appearances by the big rabbit bearing chocolates.
For many Easter is the final chance to camp before the weather turns decidedly cold.
And camp grounds along the Goulburn and Murray rivers were busy with many Victorians deciding to holiday locally rather than travel interstate or overseas.
Easter is also time for the annual Good Friday Appeal for the Royal Children’s Hospital.
The final tally is was $22,328,154 with regional Victoria contributing $2,581,661.
The Devenish-Dookie and District Good Friday Appeal raised a remarkable $100,000 — the fifth highest regional total.
“This is only achievable because of the support of the local community,” appeal president Paul Durden said.
“It is an unbelievable result for the area, we don’t have the population, but we have a really good team and some big events through the year including a lamb drive and online auction, and lots of smaller events like barefoot bowls and yabbie races.”
“We’ve already started on next year.”
Good Friday Appeal executive director Rebecca Cowan said regional Victoria continued to be one of the biggest supporters of the appeal.
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone for their generous donations to this year’s Good Friday Appeal,” she said.
“The team work that binds all regional towns together is truly inspiring.”
