But the end is far from nigh.
The Dookie Quarry gathering has grown into a spectacle no live music lover wants to miss, featuring past performers such as Tom Harrington, Sam + Sam and Ella Hooper.
As the festival evolves, event organisers have made the decision for it to become its own separate entity, cut from the cloth of the Secret Garden Gigs.
One mystery remains: what will the now stand-alone event be called?
According to creative director Jamie Lea, “That’s where you come in.”
Organisers of the Dookie Quarry Festival have invited community members to come up with a name for the event and send in their suggestions, with the brains behind the selected name to be gifted a lifetime pass.
Ms Lea said the Secret Garden Gigs would continue to tour regional Victoria in some way and people who had been to previous Dookie Quarry Festival events would understand it deserved its own spotlight.
“If you’ve been to our December show, you’ll understand the unique vibe, atmosphere and community connection that defines the Dookie Quarry Festival,” she said.
“It's so much more than a stage and some bands, it’s a celebration of all things regional and more importantly of the Goulburn Valley.
“Everything is local, and everything is about promoting what it is that makes our neck of the woods so special.”
Suggested names for the Dookie Quarry Festival can be emailed to tickets@thesecretgardens.com before Thursday, May 4.
