The annual Moulamein Cup meeting draws punters from near and far to the idyllic town, located on the banks of the Edward River.
The population swells four-fold with racegoers travelling from as far as Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney.
Held on the second Saturday in December, the Moulamein Cup boasts a proud history with racing held at Moulamein Racecourse since 1878.
Set on a spacious and relatively untouched rural reserve, this makes for a truly authentic country race meeting like no other.
The day features a bumper six-race program run on the renowned red dirt track.
The straight is lined with private, track-side and fully catered marquees.
You see fashion ranging from relaxed country through to some of the most breathtaking outfits, with the Fashions on the Field always keenly contested.
The crowd has all the atmosphere they could want with the unique four-sided bough shed bar, the shade of the box trees, bookies and TAB onsite, and the sound of a solo ‘Muso’ filtering through the crowd.
Several food vans will satisfy the taste buds.
The Moulamein Cup also caters for families with plenty of free entertainment for the kids including face-painting, jumping castles, magicians and plenty more.
Trust us, once you go to Moulamein, a bit like the famed Birdsville Cup, you’ll be back.
The 2023 Moulamein Cup will be run and won on Saturday, December 9.
