And what a party on the plains it was in October.
They team behind the event - Play on the Plains Festival Inc - came back with a bang and a new world record to boot.
And it is for that reason the committee received the Edward River Council Community Event or Initiative of the Year category.
The award is for a group or organisation of greater than four people who have, over the past twelve months, made a noteworthy contribution to the Edward River region.
This can be through conducting a successful project, event, activity, or initiative which has brought recognition and credit to the community through a cultural, economic, environmental or sporting achievement within the Edward River Region.
“The Deni Ute Muster made a welcome comeback in 2022 after two years without an event,” the nomination read.
“The time between the Ute Muster in 2019 and 2022 saw substantial works done to make it more accessible for everyone.
“These upgrades ensured the 18,000 people who were on site daily during the festival were all well cared for.
“Twenty community groups received monetary donations in return for their members volunteering hours of work or catering.”
The Tradie Challenge, in particular, was a roaring success for the community.
Four teams competed to build cubby houses, which were then donated to Homes Out West to gift to families in need for Christmas.
Mrs Lowry acknowledged the award recognising “the organisation, the board, staff, volunteers and community groups that all work hard to make it a success.”
She said the 2022 Deni Ute Muster was a special one and saying it was a highlight to “stand at the gate with patrons driving through thanking us.”
“The acknowledgement continued until a week or two before Christmas when we got to deliver the cubbies.
“The smiles on the kids faces topped off a wonderful year,” she said.
Other nominees: Country Education Fountation of Edward River Region; Donna Van Lieshout, representing the Deniliquin High School’s fish park project team.
