Dux is awarded to the student who receives the highest ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank).
But Ben was not the only student to return impressive HSC results in 2024 according to teacher Kylie Barker, with a number achieving equally enviable university entry scores.
Results were released just before Christmas, after exams concluded in November.
It means students are, essentially, ready to enter the ‘real world’.
Achieving the desired score after months of dedication is not just satisfying; it's a powerful affirmation of one's hard work and potential.
And that was the case for a number of students, giving them the platform to take on tertiary studies, work or whatever else they decide to do.
The high school had a number of high-achieving students completing their HSC this year.
Ben received an ATAR of 93.45.
He is interested in studying medicine at university next year, and applied to study medicine at Western Sydney and James Cook universities.
Brooke Jervis was another who scored well, knuckling down to get into her desired course, animal science, with early entry.
Irrespective of that, Brooke’s ATAR score of 85.45 was an outstanding achievement, topping off a year of hard work and strong study habits.
Brooke's impressive ATAR score not only reflects her year-long dedication and effective study habits but also opens up exciting opportunities for her future in animal science.
Rounding out the school's top three when it comes to ATARs was Isaac Thompson, who achieved an ATAR of 79.7.
Deni High has said its consistently high-achieving Year 12 cohort is a testament to its exceptional teaching staff, many of whom are qualified HSC markers with years of experience in exam assessment and curriculum development.
Deniliquin High School has more than 10 teachers qualified to be HSC markers.
This year, six were involved in scoring across biology, chemistry, PDHPE, extension maths, community and family studies and extension English.
