Body Harmony, located at 33 Napier St, is the business winner, while Paul and Vanessa Grant won the residential prize for the display at 114 McCrabb Rd.
The Deni Lights Up competition, which was a massive hit and has brought so much festive cheer and spirit to the community, was coordinated by the Deniliquin Business Chamber with the help of sponsors - Ray White Deniliquin, Deni Ute Muster, Deniliquin Pastoral Times, 1521/2QN and 102.5 Edge FM.
The competition was a success in large part to the number of houses and businesses signed up to participate, with more than 30 registering to be included on the lights map.
Some of the displays around town had metres of lights adorning the fronts of their houses and yards, inflatable Christmas characters and props and some were even handing out treats for the kids.
Body Harmony’s small front window was jam packed with Christmas magic, displaying candy canes, gingerbread men, reindeer and a beautiful Christmas village.
At McCrabb Rd, the Grants went all out.
The pair estimate they had more than 100m of lights, in addition to inflatables, interactive activities, and they even had Santa’s grotto fitted out with his chair and a Christmas film playing on a projector.
It is also not a small undertaking to set the whole thing up.
“Yeah it usually takes about three days, this year took a little longer due to work commitments and that sort of thing,’ Mr Grant said.
But even with a few stormy days, the Grant family were able to pull together an astonishing interactive display that delighted everyone who visited.
“It’s the smiles; being able to see people enjoy the display, me running around dressed like an elf with kids coming up to you giving you high-fives.
“There are people out there doing it tough this time of year, and if the lights and coming out to have a look helps bring some joy then we are more than happy to do it.
“The win is great, and we are very thankful for the way Chamber ran the competition.”
Thanks to the Deniliquin Business Chamber and Ray White Real Estate Deniliquin, the Grants have received a $400 Why Leave Town Gift Card.
Mrs Huddle wins a $1000 media package, thanks to the Pastoral Times and 1521/2QN and 102.5 Edge FM, and a 12 month membership to the Deniliquin Business Chamber.
Voting in the People’s Choice remains open until December 29. Use the voting form on the bottom of the lights map, or vote online at https://forms.gle/tNQJ4DhZzEtWGuvw6.
