The program is a part of the Victorian Government’s hope to support more women and girls to get involved in sports.
Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to community sport and recreation clubs, which is set to go towards fostering participation of women and girls.
The grants can, for example, be used for the implementation of new women’s programs, the hosting of women’s rounds, as well as for opening up new opportunities for women to become involved in club leadership roles.
The program is now in its eighth year, and has so far provided more than $2.9 million towards 580 grants for sport and active recreation clubs and organisations across the state.
These grants act as a stepping stone for the Victorian Government’s Fair Access Policy Roadmap, which sets out to see all Victorian councils and Alpine Resorts in Victoria adopt local gender equitable access policies.
The investment of over $2.9 million in funding to 580 community sport and recreation clubs since 2018 is part of the $18.8 million investment in the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation and the Change Our Game initiative.
State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said, “the Change Our Game Community Activation Grants program is a fantastic opportunity for our community sport and active recreation clubs to showcase the important roles women and girls play and deserve.”
“I encourage all eligible organisations to consider applying.”
Applications for the program close on Wedneday, February 26 at 5pm.
