Among the regular callers to his show, over a long period, has been “Danny (Manning) from Daylesford’’, the man responsible for inspiring the radio show host to develop a T-shirt design which is now being used to raise money for Australian flood relief.
A little over a month ago — following the Victorian flood event — it was a phone from Mr Manning that initiated the printing of the T-shirts.
And, for the first time, they were on sale at the Rochester live broadcast on Sunday morning.
Mr Manning, who left his home before 4am with his son Harrison, was proudly wearing the T-shirt at the show — the signature of Macca emblazoned down one side in a gold texta.
“I called the show in October and Macca offered to send me out a book and a record. I told him I wanted a T-shirt and that, apparently, is when he got the idea to print the T-shirts and sell them for flood relief.
“This is the first time today they have been available. He sent mine out, so I arrived in it before they had set up the table to start selling.
“People all over the place were asking me where I had got the T-shirt and how they could get their hands on one,” he said.
Mr Manning said the radio host was now mass producing the T-shirts, his decision to “bump’’ the book and record turning out to be a godsend.
“Macca got his graphic designer to put it together. It happened in less than two months. They were only printed a week or so ago and he sent me mine,” Mr Manning said.
