Diego Sztejman has this week taken steps toward forming an affiliated group as part of the NSW Neighbourhood Watch program.
It follows a spate of property-related crimes that have been plaguing the area since November.
Mr Sztejman has said “enough is enough” and is seeking expressions of interest to see a local organisation and committee formed.
“There has been a bit of talk around (about starting a Neighbourhood Watch group) but there has been no action taken.
“When my family and property are affected, I believe I must do something about it.” Mr Sztejman said.
The Neighbourhood Watch program is one of a range of crime prevention and community safety strategies in NSW.
Since 1984, when the program was first introduced, NSW Police has supported the program in communities that have demonstrated their ongoing support for it.
The program is funded through fundraising, sponsorships and grants and has at its core, dedicated volunteers in each local community.
Neighbourhood Watch is a community based, crime prevention organisation that aims to reduce localised crime and fear of crime by promoting and coordinating multifaceted approaches to prevention and problem-solving.
Anyone interested in a Deniliquin Neighbourhood Watch proposal meeting to gauge initial volunteer interest is invited to attend a meeting at the Deniliquin RSL Club next Thursday evening at 8pm.
