A fire, which was believed to have been started by machinery in a Mooroopna North paddock, was quickly brought under control on Friday afternoon.
Incident controller Blade Larkins, from the CFA, said that 15 appliances - with the help of one aircraft - brought the fire under control within around 40 minutes.
Two separate burns within the one paddock burnt a combined area of approximately 450m x 100m, with nearby McKenzie Rd temporarily closed during the incident.
Mr Larkins said the fire “spread pretty quickly” and that it was lucky the wind wasn’t strong at the time of ignition.
Crews will remain on site throughout the afternoon to monitor the situation.
Over a dozen appliances attended.
EARLIER, 2pm:
A fire - which began classified as a grass fire but has since been upgraded to a bushfire - is not yet under control in Greater Shepparton on Friday afternoon.
Vic Emergency states 16 vehicles are responding to the Mooroopna North blaze, with McKenzie Rd near Minchin Rd the epicentre of the incident.
The bushfire is still classified as small, and a ‘stay informed’ notice for residents of Mooroopna North and Mooroopna North West states that “there is currently no threat to you, but you should stay informed and monitor conditions”.
The fire is travelling in a southerly direction from McKenzie Rd.
