Following the success of the Costa’s Climate Ready Gardens: Thriving Through Change, this new, free program of workshops has been designed to help local gardeners create sustainable, resilient gardens capable of thriving in a changing climate.
This series aims to offer practical advice, hands-on learning and expert guidance to address challenges like extreme weather, droughts and floods.
The two-day design course in Nagambie will involve two six-hour intensive sessions for individuals who want help with designing their garden space to be climate-ready.
Information on drought and flood-resilient gardens, attracting native wildlife and working with local soils will be provided.
The two-day design course will also be offered in Euroa, along with Climate Ready Gardens: Taking Actions, which is a two-hour interactive workshop covering how gardening can help protect the environment.
Strathbogie Shire Mayor Claire Ewart-Kennedy said the series reflected Strathbogie Shire Council’s commitment to empowering residents with practical tools and knowledge to contribute to a more sustainable future.
“Gardens are more than places of beauty — they’re vital for supporting biodiversity, conserving water, and helping our community adapt to climate change,” Cr Ewart-Kennedy said.
“By offering these free workshops, we’re not only helping individuals make a difference in their own backyards but also strengthening our community’s collective resilience to climate challenges.”
The two-day design course in Nagambie will be held on Thursday, March 6 and Thursday, March 13 from 4pm to 7pm at the Nagambie Lakes Regatta Centre.
The same course in Euroa will take place on Wednesday, March 26 and Wednesday April 2 from 10am to 1pm at the Euroa Community Conference Centre.
Climate Ready Gardens: Taking Action will be on Thursday, February 13 from 6pm to 8pm at the Euroa Community Conference Centre, and will also be held online.
