Police said a white Mitsubishi hatchback crashed into a power pole in Archer St, near the MacIntosh St intersection, about 4am.
The car, with the registration BIT951, was travelling north on Archer St before the crash.
Power went out to almost 1900 households in an area along Archer St, Shepparton, and further south along the area surrounding Archer Rd at Kialla.
At 4.30pm on Monday, 41 homes remained without power, with Powercor expecting it would be switched back on at 7pm that night.
Police said the car was stolen from Cosgrove South early Saturday morning and had evaded police twice since then.
Police believe lots of properties on Archer St would have CCTV of the crash or people leaving the car afterwards and are calling for them to provide this information to police.
One person was arrested after the crash and interviewed, but was released pending further inquiries.
Powercor crews were on scene for much of Monday fixing the power pole.
Archer St was closed for most of the day between MacIntosh St and Haslem St while the work took place.
Anyone with information or CCTV footage of the crash or of the car before the crash, is asked to contact First Constable Tess Storey at Shepparton police on 5820 5777 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppersvic.com.au
