It was a landmark year for development in Campaspe Shire as the council collaborated with the Kyabram Development Committee on the Kyabram Place-based Plan.
And, while the Breen Ave Dual-Walking Trail was completed in early September, there are a few projects which the community are readily waiting for.
“Council is pleased to be able to report on the progress of these projects and looks forward to their completion for the use and enjoyment by the local and wider community,” Council’s Director Communities Jo Bradshaw said.
Jaycee Park
The crown jewel of upcoming changes is the transformation of Jaycee Park, which the council announced in August would undergo a complete makeover, with residents playing a key role in shaping its new design.
A council representative confirmed that, as of January 2025, a quotation brief for the formation of concept and master planning had been developed, and a tender will be put out in early February.
Following an appointment of a consultant, the community can expect to have input into what a reshaped Jaycee Park will look like in autumn.
Tongala and Kyabram dog parks
Tongala and Kyabram dogs can expect a new area to explore soon, with a scheduled completion time for new dog parks slated for the 2024-25 EOFY.
The dog parks were initially green-lit at the July 2023 council meeting, which saw $500,000 promised for the development of off-leash dog parks in Kyabram and Tongala.
Although final locations are yet to be confirmed, Brose Reserve in Tongala and Edis Park in Kyabram have been earmarked as potential sites for these eagerly anticipated canine recreational areas.
Following community consultation in 2024, designs were completed, and the project managers met with tenderers onsite on January 22.
Tongala tennis clubrooms
While the Australian Open has wrapped up, there is still a lot to look forward to for Tongala tennis fans.
The Tongala tennis clubrooms are slated to be completed by the end of January, with works on the two-year project wrapping up loose ends.
The project was first mentioned in the 2021-2022 Budget, promising $45,000 for works to the floor, roof and brickwork of the building.
A council representative said all major works had been completed, and the clubrooms are already in use by the Tongala Tennis Club.
