He said he was not finished making a difference and wanted to continue to use his knowledge and network to better the community.
“I’ve been grateful for the opportunity to serve as councillor for four years and mayor of our great region for just over two years,” he said.
“Over that period of time, I’ve built some really strong connections, and I really want to advance those connections to continue growing our region and achieving great things not only for Balaclava Ward but, more importantly, for the whole of Greater Shepparton.
“There's been many challenges, but there’s been plenty of good opportunities, and it’s about those connections that I’ve personally built over the course of the last four years that I want to be able to seize those opportunities and really leverage them to continue to really build a strong and healthy local economy.”
Mr Sali said that if he was elected back to council he would aim to grow the community.
“We know what makes Greater Shepparton successful and what has made it successful for a long time and has allowed us to grow and prosper as a region,” he said.
“One of the reasons I’m truly grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to be mayor through these past four years is that there’s been a number of key projects that have sat stagnant for a long time, and we’ve been able to really progress these and a lot of them will support the further development in our sports.
“We talk about the sports stadium, resolving the Princess Park and putting money in there to determine its future.”
He said he loved the region for the opportunities it gave all kinds of people.
“We can provide opportunities for all people in our community and I want council to be leading the charge in making sure that opportunities continue to be available, and we continue to attract investment to our region to grow our jobs, health opportunities and prosperity for everyone.”
He said running for council was an exciting process, and he was especially thrilled to run for a place he calls home.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to put my hand up to represent Greater Shepparton,” he said.
“It’s an unbelievable regional city, and I’m so proud to call this place my home.”
